Overprescribing and the Impossible Day
Case Study: Overprescribing and the Impossible Day
The case was initiated through liaison contacts with an FBI TFO from a local police department. The PD had received numerous complaints of Dr. Fazal Panezai inappropriately touching female patients and observed numerous patient behaviors at his office indicating the presence of a pill mill. The investigative team began by locating and interviewing the female patients who had made complaints to law enforcement regarding Dr. Panezai’s behavior. With those women on board and willing to testify against him, serving subpoenas on private and government insurances, analyzing the doctor’s prescribing habits through the prescription monitoring program and identifying current and former patients and employees.
